What this keeps

The short version: everyone on the course can see your profile unless you say otherwise, the answers you pick are never visible to anyone, and you can change your mind or delete everything at any time.

What is collected

Signing in with Google gives us the name, email address and profile picture on that account. Everything else is what you do here: which skills you have done and the answers you picked, which jobs you have run, anything you wrote in a comment, your placement, and which setup steps you have checked. There is no tracking, no analytics and no third party: nothing here is measured except what you did on purpose.

What everyone else sees

If you turn your profile on: your name, your picture, the skills you have done, the jobs you have run and anything you have said in a comment, on Peeps and to everyone signed in. A comment is the exception in both directions. It can be read by everyone whichever way your profile is set, it just carries no name while the profile is off, and it stays where it was posted if you turn the profile back off. Unsaying something is deleting it, which you can do on the job it is on.

It arrives on: everyone on the course can see your profile unless you say otherwise, and the setting is on Setup.

If something here is wrong

Every comment that is not yours carries a way to report it. Reporting one hides it from you right away, everywhere it appears, and Daphne can see that you flagged it. Whether it comes down for everyone is her call and nobody else can make it, which is also why reporting something does not take it away from the rest of the course on its own.

You can also block somebody, at the foot of their page on Peeps. Their comments stop reaching you and they cannot ask to follow you. They are not told, and they stay on the roster and in the feed, which is a record of what happened in this room rather than a list of who you hear from.

Nothing is checked before it is posted. There is no filter on what people write here and no software reading it. What stands in for one is that everybody on this course was invited by name. If it keeps happening, tell Daphne, wherever the invite came from.

What nobody else sees

The answers you picked in a quiz, your email address, and — for anyone who was here before the quiz existed — anything you pasted into a skill back when pasting was how one was finished. None of it is visible to anyone else here, not to other learners, and not on the admin screen either. That is enforced by the database rather than by the page: the views the cohort is read through do not carry those columns at all.

What is sent to you

One email, and nothing else ever: a note when somebody cheers your work or asks to follow you, at most one every half hour, and none at all while nothing is happening. It names the person, and only ever somebody whose profile you could already open here. Every note carries a link that stops them in one tap without signing in, and there is a switch on Setup that does the same. Your address is used for that and for nothing else.

How to leave

This deletes your progress, your placement, the jobs you have run, the setup steps you have checked, every comment you have written, who you follow and who follows you, and the name, email and picture that came from Google. It takes you off Peeps and signs you out. It cannot be undone.

One thing is left afterwards: the sign-in account itself, which is what lets this recognize you if you ever come back. Removing that has to be done by hand — ask, and it will be. If it keeps happening, tell Daphne, wherever the invite came from.
